Hamid Marvi

I am a postdoctoral fellow in Department of Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and will join Arizona State University as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in Fall 2015. Currently, I work in NanoRobotics Lab under supervision of Professor Metin Sitti. I study physics of biological systems and build bio-inspired robots. Specifically, I am interested in designing bio-inspired mechanisms for control of adhesion and friction at different scales. Such mechanisms would be required for effective all-terrain robotic systems. I got my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech where I studied the role of functional surfaces in the locomotion of snakes.
